London, 10th March 2010 – Award Eurodata Systems, one of the UK's leading systems integrators and IT service providers, today announces the UK's first Microsoft all-in-one UC appliance. The appliance, available for the first time in the UK, allows organisations to get UC up and running at new levels of speed and ease. An award-winning worldwide partner to Microsoft and channel partners to StartReady and Interoute, Eurodata has been given exclusive access to this out of the box solution for the next 12 months. Unified communications services are increasingly used by businesses to optimise efficiency and control costs. To support these business initiatives, Eurodata’s new integrated UC appliance is designed to help small to mid-sized companies with up to 1000 users: • Increase productivity by 23%. Eurodata predict a 23% increase in productivity for organisations deploying the solution as employees have greater flexibility to communicate outside normal office hours as well as save and access all project documents through Microsoft’s OCS. • Reduce costs by 50%. Implementation quickly demonstrates a return on investment as line rental, licensing and ISDN costs are stripped from operational overheads. For example, organisations no longer need to use teleconferencing services as the new appliance can enable free conference calls for up to 200 people. • Deploy UC in just a matter of days. The technology can be trialled and rolled out in under a week; at present, there is no faster way to set up UC. Working in unison with Interoute, the partner company providing SIP connectivity for the new appliance, SMEs are no longer tied to their ISDN lines, and can therefore work on the same scale as large corporate organisations, at only a fraction of the cost. “The announcement of this service is a benchmark event for the communications industry,” said Des Lekerman, Co-Founder & Managing Director – Eurodata. “We are proud to be the first in the UK to present this out of the box technology which is really going to help mid-sized businesses cut costs whilst experiencing enterprise class UC.” IT users can pilot the appliance and experience the integrated OCS across different groups or departments with a range of USB phones and cameras to establish which equipment best suits their business needs. Bytes Technology, a software licensing organisation, has been using the appliance since December. “Our team has seen an immediate impact from the all-in-one appliance,” said Neil Murphy, UK Group Managing Director, Bytes Technology. “The business case was built on efficiency improvements and so by providing the plug and play solution at such a low cost, we've dramatically enhanced the productivity of our employees across the organisation. It's the right solution for us to get the best value from UC.” Working off Microsoft OCS 2007 R2, the client interface enables an easy transition for users, and means that minimal training is required. Presence information is displayed anywhere an individual's name appears, meaning the availability of each employee can easily be established, and the best method of communication, be that instant messaging, e-mail, voice, or video, can be quickly ascertained. This integration of communication functionality within Microsoft software enables SMEs to exploit productivity improvements without the need to engage in costly development.
